Top 4 March 2016 Dramas

Top 4 March 2016 Dramas

It’s been a couple of weeks since I sat down to write on my blog. Oh, how I’ve missed it. To get right on track, I started to look for information on new dramas and felt excited all over again like I did in January. To be honest, I wasn’t really that interested in the dramas that came out last month. Which is why I skipped writing about my top February dramas. There were dramas here and there which I saw a lot of positive comments on but not enough to want to start watching them right away. Luckily, this month has a couple of dramas that I think I’m going to start watching once their second episode airs. If you all are similar to me, then you know that sometimes episode 1 can be enough to get you hooked on a drama. And you want to watch just one more episode without having to wait for it to be subtitled. And when you realize you have to wait for the other episode to be subtitled you go into despair. Just kidding.

This time around, I’ve actually added two Taiwanese dramas to the list. For everyone who loves Taiwan dramas like myself, I hope you check out the ones I’ve listed here. Here are the 4 dramas starting in March that caught my attention.

Refresh Man

Genre: Modern, Romance | Episodes: 20 | Starting Date: March 6, 2016

Ji Wen Kai (Aaron Yan) and Zhong Yu Tang (Joanne Tseng) have known each other since childhood and have competed with one another ever since. Though back then it wasn’t much of a contest because Yu Tang always became top of the class and Wen Kai always had mediocre grades. After graduation, they went their separate ways. Yu Tang landed an excellent job at MUSE Cosmetics and worked her way up to a secretarial position in the company. She also is said to have the potential to take over the head secretary position for the new CEO of the company. Wen Kai worked odd jobs for some time and then went abroad to find work. Many years later, MUSE Cosmetics brings in Wen Kai as the new CEO to help rescue the company from their dire crisis. Yu Tang is very surprised that day when she finds out Wen Kai will be the new CEO. After that day, nothing in the company was ever the same for Yu Tang. This drama stars Joanne Tseng as Zhong Yu Tang and Aaron Yan as Ji Wen Kai.

It’s been a long time since I saw one of Joanne’s dramas. I’ve always enjoyed the characters she interprets. And even though she tends to have the underdog go getter female types of characters, I’ve always enjoyed her acting. The difference here is that her character is actually very resourceful and efficient at her job. She had already worked her way up to an important position, but now she has to deal with all the changes coming her way. Which is part of the reason I want to watch this drama. Also, there’s Aaron Yan who has been getting these CEO roles lately. I’ve seen him as one before in Just You, but I’m looking forward to seeing how he interprets this character. I haven’t seen much of his acting so I’m looking forward to it. Not to mention, I think they look so very cute together. I’m ready for all the pettiness and arguments that lead up to a romance. Go figure.

Page Turner (Drama Special)

Genre: School, Musical | Episodes: 3 | Starting Date: March 26, 2016

Yoon YooSeul is a student at an art high school who is known to be a talented pianist because of her various contest wins. On the down side, her life is completely controlled by her mother who wanted to become a pianist when she was younger but couldn’t. One day, YooSeul has an accident and suffers an injury that may keep her from ever being able to play piano again. After this, she receives the help of her friend Cha Sik and her rival Jin Mok to begin to live a new life. This drama stars Kim So Hyun as Yoon Yoo Seul, Ji Soo as Jung Cha Sik and Shin Jae Ha as Suh Jin Mok.

I heard around Facebook that a new drama starring Ji Soo would be coming out soon. Since I really liked his character in Sassy Go Go, I decided it’d be a good idea to check the teasers once they’d come out. Yet after knowing he would act along side So Hyun, I knew I had to watch it. She’s such a great actress and it has been a while since I’ve seen her act. While I was looking for information, I became a little disappointed at the fact that it would be a drama special of only 3 episodes. But after watching and enjoying the teasers, I decided to give it a chance. I’m really interested in watching how So Hyun’s character changes when faced with the idea of maybe not ever being able to play piano again. Also, I’m looking forward to watching JiSoo and her act along side each other. From the teasers, I realized that their characters are the type of friends who are always bickering with each other, and it’s very funny to watch.

Ms. Temper and Nam Jung-gi

Genre: Comedy, Romance | Episodes: 16 (to be confirmed) | Starting Date: March 18, 2016

Nam Jung Gi (Yoon Sang Hyun), is a marketing department manager, who is best known to his colleagues as “Father Theresa” and “Walking UNICEF” because of his kind and timid personality. There is nothing that can irritate or annoy him.  His coworker, Ok Da Jung (Lee Yo Won) is a woman with a fierce personality and short temper. Everyone in the office calls her “Fire Da Jung”. Not to mention, she really isn’t a fan of Jung Gi’s good-natured personality. To be honest, his kindness brings out the worst in her. So much that she’s capable of taking out her fury with anything or anyone at any moment. Will Ok Da Jung get Nam Jung Gi to finally crack or will he be the one to soften her heart? This drama stars Lee Yo Won as Ok Da Jung and Yoon Sang Hyun as Nam Jung Gi.

The last time I saw Yoon Sang Hyun in a drama was in Secret Garden. I really loved his acting in the drama and when I saw the teasers for this drama, I knew I had to see where the relationship between these two lead character would go. The teasers are hilarious and the way his character deals with Fire Da Jung is funny and at the same time pitiful. I just want to see both of these characters interact. I’m looking forward to lots of laughs.

Vampire Detective

Genre: Fantasy, Mystery | Episodes: 12 (to be confirmed) | Starting Date: March 27, 2016

Yoo San is a private detective who suddenly becomes a vampire one day. As he solves various cases for his clients, he tries to also uncover the mystery surrounding his transformation. This drama stars Lee Joon as Yoon San, Oh Jung Se as Yong Goo Hyung and Lee Se Young as Han Gyeo Wool.

To be honest with you all, I really love anything that has to do with vampires. And after waiting so long for some news about season 3 of Vampire Prosecutor, I’m really happy a drama involving an investigation team with a lead vampire private detective has been announced. The fact of the matter is, both dramas have similar synopsis. Despite that, I want to watch Vampire Detective because I want to see the difference in the story line. I want to know how Lee Joon’s character became a vampire, how he’ll use his abilities to solve his cases and find answers as to why such a thing happened to him. Also Lee Joon is a very good actor, and I want to see him in this new role. So I’m going to give the drama a chance and hope for the best.

March has me all excited again with these new dramas. I hope next month I can add Japanese dramas to my list. Remember that some of these have already started airing. So if you like any of those who have, than you’re in luck. If there are any other dramas starting in March that you guys think I should check out, leave me a comment with the information. I’d be happy to check out other recommendations.

Happy drama watching. 🙂
