Happy Anniversary, Outspoken East!
Before we get this overdue celebration started, I want to explain and apologize to you all for the lack of content on my blog. Since last month, I’ve gone through many obstacles concerning my health. First, there were two infections I had to deal with and during both, I began to experience pain on the left side of my body plus the loss of strength in my left hand. After weeks of dealing with it, I was able to get some x-rays done and then diagnosed with Scoliosis in the cervical area. I’ve been taking care of my body by taking the necessary precautions. Fortunately today, I feel much better and my hand feels good enough to type without discomfort. So, I decided it’d be a great thing to celebrate with you all my one year (and almost two months) blog anniversary.
Wow! I seriously can’t believe an entire year has passed by. It’s been a year (and two months) since I decided to buy a domain and take my free blog to the next level. I’ve been blogging since 2011, mainly about the Kpop community here in Puerto Rico and in Spanish I might add, and since I’ve enjoyed doing it so much, I thought I could actually make a career out of it. And yes, things have not turned out how I hoped. I thought that by now, I’d have a couple of regular commenters who enjoy reading and commenting on my blog. But I completely understand that the journey is different for everyone when it comes to creating a community on their blog. A following as the professionals would say. And that in my case, it’ll take more time compared to others. Also, I’ve had a lot of hiatuses this year and it’s understandable that the schedule for releasing content has suffered.
But on the other hand, I have learned so much about blogging. I know where to find resources to help me improve the way I use WordPress, I’ve joined groups that provide tips on blogging, I learned how to create visuals for my blog posts and information on copyright and personal versus commercial use. I’ve used Adobe Illustrator to design my Facebook Page and IG account to better compliment my blog and have recently started learning how to use Adobe Lightroom to edit my photography. Also, I’ve received many comments on Facebook and Twitter from people who have enjoyed my writing and photography. Every time I read each comment, I couldn’t help feeling overjoyed that someone had actually read something on my blog. Although writing on a blog may feel tedious at times, I enjoy writing it so much that, realizing the feeling is able to be transmitted to a reader, is an unbelievably positive thing. So, even though I still have a long way to go, it seems like there are many new positive things to come. When it comes to blogging, you have to be open to learning new things and working hard for the progress.
Last but not least, I want to thank each and every person that has supported my blog. Be it commenting, sharing, liking or whatever way they were able to support my writing. Each one of you have gifted me many great memories and happy moments. You have no idea how happy I felt every time I saw someone support my blog on social media. I will forever be grateful. I will continue to work hard and provide content on Outspoken East for many years to come.
Thank you very much.
Ps: Stay tune to new blog posts coming up this week on Outspoken East. I’ll be publishing old blog posts that I left without editing while I recovered from my condition. Kpop, literary web series review and Kdrama related posts are soon to be posted. Enjoy!
